Yesterday, we had a sporty team event and we played volleyball. Afterwards, we had dinner together.
Our learning: No matter how experienced or talented someone is, together as a team you can be successful!
We are looking forward to repeating it!
Hi, I’m Lily! I’m from Taiwan, currently doing my master degree in Strategy and International Management at the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland.
As an international student who doesn’t speak German, I was looking for an opportunity which doesn’t require German skills. It was especially difficult in the marketing field which usually needs the relevant language skills because of the content communicated to the audience. navabi has markets and customers in English speaking countries as well so German is not a must here. Besides, I’m very interested in the fashion industry and e-commerce; therefore, navabi was a good option for me to do the internship.
I really like the working environment and the atmosphere here. I feel that the company is rather people-oriented because it shows the care for its people in many different ways. For example, when it was someone’s birthday, some people would show the blessings to that person all together. Besides, the company has a very nice onboarding system to make sure the new people can adapt to the new environment smoothly.
I did my internship in the marketing team. I think the people in the team are all very nice and supportive. When I had questions, they were always willing to answer and offer help. I inspected landing pages of the website and optimized them if possible. I also did keyword research for content ideas and I created some new landing pages for certain projects as well. I learned a lot of skills regarding SEO marketing such as keyword research, how to optimize the contents, what are the important metrics to keep tracking, and some html skills which are something that I’d never thought that I’d do, but it was definitely interesting. I also learned some extra knowledge when joining team meetings. For example, I learned the approach OKR (objectives and key results), which is used to record and review the goals and performances of the company, each team, and each individual. I also got an opportunity to have job rotation at the warehouse. It was a very special experience for me to have a closer look on the logistics of an e-commerce.
Three months ago we started one of our biggest projects in 2019 – our new TV spot.
First of all, we asked ourselves what is was that navabi needed most for a remarkable TV spot… The answer is: inspiring models with real curves and internal beauty that makes them shine from the inside as well as on the outside. Since for us our customers are our biggest source of inspiration and the most glamorous women you could possibly find, we decided to shoot with them instead of “real” models. That’s why we invited our customers to a big casting.
More than 2.000 beautiful women applied! We couldn’t believe how many great, confident and strong women we would get to know. After getting a first overview we asked 50 candidates to send us a short video of themselves. You can only imagine how hard it was to make a final decision and pick only a few out of so many amazing applicants for the TV spot. Once we made a choice we couldn’t be happier with it!
In two exciting days we shot the new TV spot in Madrid with our five newborn stars and everyone did a phenomenal job. We’re more than proud of our models, the team, and the results. We got the chance to get to know our customers better and created unforgettable memories full of fun and laughter during these days. Every single candidate impressed us with their positive energy, strength and heartiness, which is why the whole navabi team wants to say THANK YOU to all of them. We are incredibly thankful for playing such a great role in your lives and being able to make it a bit better.
We hope you love our new TV spot as much as we do!
navabi’s HQ is located in Aachen, Germany. Why is this such a great city to be? We’ve listed a few highlights for you here.
1 – Tripoint
Aachen is located in the very west of Germany. It’s right at the border where Germany meets the Netherlands and Belgium, a so-called tripoint. This makes Aachen the perfect location to visit the other countries for even just a day!
2 – Surrounding cities & location in Europe
We know that Aachen is not the biggest city with around 250.000 inhabitants. However, the true metropolitans amongst us can benefit from Aachen’s central location in Europe. In Nordrhein-Westfalen you can find cities like Cologne, Düsseldorf, and Dortmund. Other big European cities like Brussels, London, Amsterdam, and Paris are easy to reach by both car and train. So Aachen is the ideal location for day or weekend trips to explore Europe!
3 – Top city for expats
According to this website, Aachen is the number one city for urban work life for expats! The city scores especially well in terms of job security, working hours, and work-life balance. Another good reason to choose Aachen!
4 – Surrounding nature
For people that do not always want to seek out busy city life in their spare time, the area around Aachen provides perfect (day or longer) getaways. Not far from the city, the Eifel National Park spreads from eastern Belgium to southwest Nordrhein-Westfalen. This is a beautiful area to hike, mountainbike, camp, swim, and relax. You can find a long distance hiking trail here, the Eifelsteig, that connects Aachen to Trier.
5 – Historic city centre
Aachen is a city with a rich history, which is still very much visible in the historic city centre. During medieval times, Charlemagne settled in his favourite city Aachen and named it the capital of his empire. He had the famous cathedral in Aachen built that is now one of the main sights in Aachen. The city is located on hot sulphur springs, which makes it a natural spa and is one of the reasons why Charlemagne loved Aachen so much. The sulphuric water comes out at the Elisenbrunnen in Aachen’s city centre, where you can dip your hands in the hot water.
6 – Student city & university
Aachen is well known for its university of technology, the RWTH, which is the largest of its sort in Germany and one of the most renowned in Europe. This university has a total of more than 45,000 students, including over 10,000 international students from 145 different countries. [Source]
7 – Character
The people in the Rhineland area (where Aachen is located) are known for their special character traits; they are in general open-minded, easy-going, happy. To other people they are welcoming and warm. Also honesty and being straightforward are part of the real Aachen mentality. The slang spoken in Aachen, called Öcher platt, is influenced by French and will be directly recognised in any other place in Germany. It is for example typical for people speaking Öcher platt to mix up the German “sch” and “ch” sound.
8 – Activities
In case you are looking for some interesting and fun events to attend in your free time, Aachen can offer you this as well! Besides the September Special, during which plenty of bands are playing all around the city for a weekend, the CHIO, one of the most famous equestrian competitions in the world, the Oecher Band, a big funfair which is here twice a year, or Sport im Park, an outside group-sports offer, there are plenty of stage plays, markets or exhibitions throughout the year. To get a better overview of all events and shows you can have a look here.
And much more!
Last Friday, our navabistas were challenged to do a Schnitzeljagd (scavenger hunt in English)! In smaller groups, each team had to go past 8 stations and complete the tasks in order to win the ultimate price: a team lunch. The teams faced finger painting, counting windows, dropping eggs, karaoke… and much more. And of course: the big NAVABI QUIZ! Do you know how many bags of coffee we consume at the Aachen office in a year? Or to how many countries we deliver? It was a tight race, but of course there can only be one winner!
After the Schnitzeljagd it was time for dinner (prepared by navabistas!) and a party! It was an amazing evening thanks to all the enthusiastic navabistas!
The premium Manon Baptiste range has all your 9-5 wardrobe needs covered, while helping out-of-work, low income women back into the workplace.
So who are Smart Works? Smart Works are a fabulous charity that provide high quality interview clothes, styling advice and interview training to out-of-work women on low incomes. Their goal is to help these women feel confident, look good, succeed at their job interview and move on with their lives. And they are hugely successful – over half of the women they see go on to get a job.
However, much like the majority of the population, most of the women Smart Works see are plus size, while most of their donations are standard size. And this is where navabi has stepped in. Having already worked closely with the charity, the two have now joined forces with a special Manon Baptiste workwear collection.
So how does it work? The collection works on a one-for-one basis, with a Manon Baptiste workwear style donated for every item sold. So you can refresh your 9-5 wardrobe and dress a woman through Smart Works at the same time. It’s feel-good fashion at its finest.
It’s International Women’s Day!
Our team includes women from 24 different countries, and there are more than 500,000 customers from over 100 countries that believe in what we do. No matter where you come from, what dress size you wear – celebrating wonderful women is something we care about deeply. Today, we are donating €1 in honour of each person that orders with us to Refuge, who we think do great work supporting victims of domestic violence. Together, we want to fight for empowerment and equality. Not just today, but every day. A small change from each of us can make a big difference to those who need it most.
The 27.02.2019 is a milestone in the history of navabi.
On this day, our big Magento Project became reality:
The German online-shop has moved to another shop system!
Confetti, sparkling wine, sparklers and cakes were ready and all navabistas surprised
the Tech-Team; That was a success!
Thank you all for your great work!
Today we took the opportunity to spread love and say THANK YOU to every navabista for “dating” navabi.
Even though we are happy every day to have such a great team, we think that it is important to show this here and then with a gesture. The result was 125 roses and (individualized) handwritten cards!
